Course Description: 

This Symposium is two-day didactic course focused on specific injuries/conditions affecting the lower extremity.  Topics will include dynamic evaluation techniques, cutting edge treatment advances, and anatomy dissection presentations with specific case studies.  Lectures and labs will develop skills in discharge testing for elite athletes and the injured worker/weekend warrior.  Attendees will have the opportunity to bring specific questions and cases as they participate in expert panel discussions each day.  Advancements and innovations will be presented based on current evidence throughout this 2-day course.

 Topics include:

  • Anatomy of the Knee; The Knee Exam: History and Technique; ACL – Surgery; Current Concepts in ACL Rehabilitation; Patellofemoral Surgery; Physical Therapy and the Patellofemoral Joint; Meniscal Repair Versus Meniscectomy: When, Why How?; The Surgical Treatment of Multi-Ligament Knee Injury; Rehab of Meniscus/Multi-Ligament Injuries; Common Injuries of the Foot & Ankle  - Surgery; Rehabilitation of the Foot & Ankle; TKR Kinematics & Rehabilitation; The Focused Hip Examination in the Pre-arthritic, Athletic Patient; Rehabilitation of the Hip; Regenerative Medicine – Biologics; Facility Management & Engagement; Lower Quarter Assessment, Treatment and Integration into Performance Training; Return to Sports participation and Discharge Testing; Debunking the Squat and Deadlift Myths; Running Analysis: Sprint & Endurance 

Course Objectives:

  1. Discuss the anatomy of injuries/conditions of the lower extremity. 
  2. Recognize and refine best practice treatment plans for hip, ACL, patellofemoral, meniscus, and foot & ankle injuries. 
  3. Explain and understand the procedures and process for use of regenerative medicine. 
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of objective Selective Functional Movement Assessment, running analysis and functional/discharge testing.  


Participants have no equipment or materials required to take this education course.

Casey Vogler is a licensed Physical Therapist and serves as the facility manager at Andrews Institute Rehabilitation, Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL. Casey has been in this position since 2016 but prior to that he practiced in Oakland, CA, St. Thomas, USVI, Winchester, VA and Port Au Prince, Haiti. He has also represented the Andrews Institute at Navarre High School football games, high school physical examinations, and local youth soccer league in-services. Additionally, Casey has worked with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Department of Veteran's Affairs.

Casey received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, also from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE. At the University of Delaware, Casey was awarded a research assistant fellowship in Dr. John P. Scholz’s Motor Analysis Laboratory and served as class liaison to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). He holds a certificate in Global Health, an online learning initiative of Harvard University and is certified as a Natural Running Form Coach.
